Cruise Day one

My friend was visiting from the USA recently and we had wanted to visit Norway. In the end we settled on a cruise calling at Holland on the way to Norway and again on the way home.

Our ship was the Astoria which is the oldest cruise ship still in service first launched in 1946. We loved it as it was small, only 550 passengers, had a promenade deck and a lovely old fashioned feel to it.  We left Portsmouth on a sunny warm Sunday afternoon and cruised down the Solent and past the Isle of Wight and also the Mary Rose.

The above shows friend C in the sunshine on the promenade deck.

This was our cabin which we thought was beautiful.

This was part of the evening show. The entertainment director with a wonderful voice singing Joseph's Dream Coat.

It was lovely to have a delicious meal then go to a show and just walk along the corridor to bed afterward.

  1. Hello Jean! I've been wanting to comment on your blog but I had to wait until we finally got our internet connected! I have never taken a cruise- and was excited to see that you blogged about yours! Holland and Norway! How wonderful! I can't wait to read the rest!
